How to create a vCard QR code
1. Enter your details. Fill in only what you want to share, such as your name, company, phone, email and website. Address and social profile fields are optional.
2. Generate the code. Choose your colors if you want, then create the QR code. Keep the foreground dark and the background light so phones can read it easily.
3. Test, then download. Scan it with your own phone and check every field. Download SVG for print, or PNG or WebP for screens.
What happens when someone scans it
Your contact details are stored inside the code itself, in the standard vCard format. On most iPhone and Android phones, the camera recognizes the code and offers to add the contact, so nobody has to type your number.
Because the details are inside the code, it works without a website behind it. That also means the code cannot change once printed: if your phone number changes, you need a new code.
Printing it on a business card
A vCard code holds more data than a simple link, so it has more small squares. The more fields you add, the denser it gets. Share only the essentials and print it large enough to scan: around 2.5 cm (1 inch) wide is a sensible starting point for a business card.
Leave a clear margin around the code, avoid printing it on a busy background, and always test a printed sample with more than one phone before ordering a full batch.
Static or editable?
This free generator makes a static code: free to create, with no scan tracking and nothing to edit later. If you want to change the destination after printing or see how many people scanned, use a trackable QR code instead, which needs a free account.
Frequently asked questions
Is this vCard QR code generator free?
Yes. You can create and download static vCard QR codes without an account or a credit card.
Does a static vCard QR code expire?
No. The contact details are stored in the code itself, so it keeps working as long as it can be scanned.
Can I change my details after printing?
Not with a static code. The details are part of the code, so a change means generating and printing a new one.
What is a VCF file?
VCF is the file format for vCard contact data. This tool puts the same kind of contact data directly into the QR code, so you do not need to host a file.
Why will my code not scan?
The usual causes are a code printed too small, too many fields, low contrast between colors, or no clear margin around it. Remove optional fields or print it larger, then test again.
